Available Refurbished iMac Models
Much like Refurbished MacBooks using the M1 and later chipsets, there were many different iMacs released in the early 2020s, before and since then. M1 iMacs range from the introductory 2021 iMac 24-inch (two ports or four ports) to more modern M3 and M4 iMacs. Newer iMacs all use the 24-inch display and, of course, use Apple’s Silicon M series system-on-a-chip.
Older refurbished iMacs using Intel Core processors include the 2020 iMac (27-inch) and 2019 iMac (21.5-inch), as well as the 2017 iMac Pro (27-inch). These used, respectively, Intel Core i7, i9, and Intel Xeon W processors. Comparatively, these processors were excellent for their time but less energy-efficient and optimised than Apple’s M series processors which are now the norm.
Specifications vary widely from one iMac to another and it is always recommended that you inspect each product individually to ensure it meets your computing needs. This is even more important for iMacs, because while some upgrading may be possible their compact form size makes it difficult or impossible to upgrade certain components. To get the most out of your iMac for many years to come, it’s often recommended to purchase a model with slightly better specifications than you need right now.
